Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the Clipboard++ iPhone app (the “App”), published by Nikolay Dimitrov (“we”, “us”, “our”), handles information. The App does not require an account and does not contain advertising, analytics or tracking.
1. Information Stored on Your Device
When the App is opened, it checks the clipboard for new text. iOS requests your permission before the App can read it. Text you allow the App to read is saved as a clip. Clips, titles, labels and settings are stored on your device only and are not transmitted to us.
2. iCloud Sync
If you purchase and enable iCloud Sync, your clips and labels are synchronized between your devices using Apple’s CloudKit and stored in the private database of your iCloud account. We do not have access to this data. It is handled by Apple in accordance with the Apple Privacy Policy. iCloud Sync can be turned off at any time in the App’s settings.
3. Browser Sync
If you pair the App with the Clipboard++ browser extension, the following information is transmitted to our server at clipboard.nicodo.net over an encrypted HTTPS connection:
- a push notification token issued by Apple, used to notify your device when new content arrives;
- your device name as reported by iOS (typically a generic name such as “iPhone”), displayed in the extension;
- the names of the browsers you pair;
- the content you send between the App and a paired browser.
Content is stored on the server only until it is delivered and is then deleted. Pairing information is retained while a browser remains paired and can be removed at any time under Settings › Paired Browsers. The browser extension is covered by its own privacy policy.
4. Server Logs
Our server and its hosting provider may automatically record technical information such as IP addresses and request times. This information is used solely to operate and secure the service.
5. Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your name, Apple ID or payment information.
6. Notifications and Files
The optional Copy / Paste reminder is a local notification created on your device. When you import or export clips, the App accesses only the file you select.
7. Use and Sharing of Information
Information is used solely to provide the App’s features. We do not sell, rent or share your information, or use it for advertising or profiling. The only third parties involved are Apple (iCloud, push notifications and purchases) and our server’s hosting provider.
8. Data Retention
- Clips on your device are kept until you delete them, they are removed by your history limit, or the App is deleted.
- iCloud data is kept in your iCloud account until you delete it.
- Content sent through Browser Sync is deleted from our server upon delivery.
- Pairing information is kept until the browser is unpaired.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, including under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation and California law, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to its processing. To exercise these rights or to request deletion of data held on our server, please contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Security
All communication between the App and our server is encrypted using HTTPS. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
11. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
